The Challenge

When tagging boxes of seafood, there’s always a risk of small tag fragments breaking off during wet, high-speed processing. These contaminate the food, leading to complaints from retailers and customers, product withdrawals, or costly recalls.

The Solution

We replaced all existing tags with Permatect metal-detectable substrates. These were engineered to work with the processor’s existing inline metal detection systems. Materials were approved for compliance and tested under real production conditions to make sure detection was effective.

The Results

Key outcomes or metrics

  • Zero contamination incidents after implementation
  • Full compliance with UK retailer food-safety protocols
  • Significant reduction of risk and potential recall costs

The Result?

The risk of contamination was gone for good
