100%

label retention during coldchain transport

£500k+

per year saved by cutting out previously lost or unidentifiable produce

Overview

A large abattoir needed barcode labels that would stick securely to packages of chilled fresh meat, making sure the produce could be identified during transport.

The Challenge

Standard labels wouldn’t stay stuck on the clear meat packaging because of its stretchy structure along with surface moisture brought on by the chilled environment. This meant you couldn’t tell one pack from the another, which made processing impossible and the meat worthless.

The Solution

We assessed the packaging substrate and supplied custom PE filmic labels engineered with high-performance, FX78 freezer-grade adhesive. These are designed specifically for flexible packaging surfaces in damp environments below 3 °C. They worked perfectly, so no more meat was lost through being unidentifiable.

The Results
  • 100% label retention during coldchain transport
  • Over £500,000 a year saved by cutting out previously lost or unidentifiable produce
  • Barcodes stayed secured to chilled meat packs

The Result?

Barcodes stayed secured to chilled meat packs
